One of a group of experimental military robots is struck by lightning during a demonstration, spontaneously giving it consciousness. Number 5 escapes the base and, with new found friend Stephanie, tries to avoid the military who are set on correcting the "malfunction".

Newton uses his Mac in the labs to model a robot's hand, and later takes in on the truck in pursuit of Number 5.
The Mac would struggle with the colour 3D graphics, not least because of its monochrome display!
The Olivetti is used to control the robots during the Nova Laboratories demonstration.
Ben uses the TRS-80 to control the robots during the demonstration at the beginning of the film.
